Ice Water Hashish and Hashish Rosin are the latest and greatest products to come from the cannabis plant, but hasn’t bubble hash been around for awhile? It’s true, bubble-hash has been in practice since the 1960’s, but it wasn’t until a few modern pieces of the puzzle came together, that bubble-hash leapt from the history books and planted itself at the forefront of connoisseur demand.
Era of the Dab
These traditional bubble-hash methods retain too much plant material to melt and therefore, cannot be dabbed. With the introduction of BHO (butane hash oil), we were able to achieve only the plant’s resinous cannabinoids, which ushered in the era of the dab. While harsh solvents like butane made dabbing a reality, it made for a subpar standard of product. Bubble-hash on the other hand retains entire trichomes consisting of all the terpenes and cannabinoids natural to that cultivar or “strain” of plant. Therefore, we needed a few key areas of progress to perfect the handmade art of bubble-hashish and make live hash rosin the preferred form.
The Final Piece
Coupling freshly-frozen harvests with freeze-dryers, the rosin press was the final element to realize the modern solventless form. To perfect the process, the freeze dried bubble hash is poured into small mesh rosin bags and pressed between heated steel plates. Under pneumatic pressure, the mesh rosin bags perform the final filtration, retaining any excess debris or plant materials, while the resinous cannabinoids and terpenes pour out of the rosin press for collection. We have come full circle in the realization of quality cannabis refinement to introduce dabbing in the new solventless age.
